Leeds Sailing and Activity Centre shows it’s not just plain sailing up at Yeadon Tarn as the Easter holiday activity programme is revealed.

Packed full of activities from sailing, kayaking and canoeing to orienteering, off road biking and bush craft lessons, the activity centre offers something for everyone.

Young people can choose to take part in lessons or simple taster sessions over the Easter break, or take the chance to book on to the week long outdoor activity camp which takes place between 8-12 April 2013.

As part of the activity camp, youngsters from eight years old can take part in the different activities and learn new skills or gain qualifications in the various outdoor pursuits and waterports available at the Tarn.

Councillor Adam Ogilvie, Leeds City Council executive board member with responsibility for leisure and skills said:

“The activity centre is offering a fully packed programme for the Easter holidays with plenty of opportunities to try a range of different sports.

“These taster sessions will offer young people a great chance to try their hands at a range of water sports with trained staff at the Leeds sailing and activity centre.

“It is a great excuse for young people to get into the great outdoors and meet new people."

Adult Sailing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Power Boat and Climbing courses are also available at the centre.

Notes to editors:

The Tarn has had to remain closed over recent months, due to a blue-green algae bloom that affected the water. The algae is harmful to human health and therefore people were warned to stay away from the water. The Centre has had two clear water tests and these have confirmed that the algae has now cleared and the Tarn is fine to use again.
