Local schoolchildren will compete to test their knowledge at the annual Otley road safety quiz on Thursday.
Pupils from the Otley district have been using road safety websites to hone their road safety knowledge online and will be pitting their wits and knowledge against each other at the 11th running of the quiz.
They will be tested on their understanding of road safety issues by question master Dave Robson of Otley Road Safety Committee
The quiz will take place at the Methodist church in Otley on Thursday 14th June 2012 at 6:45pm, with 10 local schools taking part, each fielding teams of five pupils.

Spike, the Road Safety Hedgehog, will be on hand to help give out the prizes and mementoes of the evening. An award in memory of the late Audrey Cartwright who was a longstanding member of Otley Road Safety Committee, and a passionate champion of the quiz, will be presented to the highest scoring pupil.
The evening will be enjoyed by Mr Greg Mulholland, MP for Leeds North West and the Mayor of Otley Councilor Mary Vickers together with supporting parents and teachers.
Councillor Richard Lewis, Deputy Leader of Council and Executive Member for Development and Economy said:
“The road safety quiz has become a regular and popular event in local schools in recent years. It is really important that the message about road safety is spread far and wide and this quiz is a really useful and interactive way of doing this among young people in the city.
Although the quiz only involves a few selected pupils from each school, all children from the school will have been involved in preparing for the event and so many will benefit from the experience of getting involved in this key topic.”
