This year’s Totally Tropical Christmas at Tropical World will feature a very special guest as Santa Claus himself will be on hand to welcome visitors.

Taking place at the popular visitor attraction in Roundhay each night from Monday 19 to Wednesday 21 December, Totally Tropical Christmas sees the venue transformed into a festive celebration with an added slice of the Caribbean warmth and atmosphere.

Santa will be the star attraction this year, as he will be taking a break from his Christmas preparations to welcome everyone and hand out presents to all children who attend.

Santa will be paying a visit to Tropical World at 9:30am on Tuesday 13 December to see the resident meerkats. All media are welcome to attend, but please allow approximately 30-minutes' acclimatisation time for equipment due to the humidity inside the venue. Tropical World is located opposite Roundhay Park off Princes’ Avenue, Roundhay Park, Leeds, LS8 1DF.

Visitors of all ages can expect to see Tropical World and Canal Gardens illuminated in Christmas Lights, while there will be indoor snow and a steel band playing carols for an authentic touch of a calypso Christmas each night from 5-8pm.

In addition to the Christmas celebrations, visitors will also be able to enjoy seeing the famous residents of Tropical World - including the three Morelet’s Crocodiles, the rare albino Burmese Python, the Yellow Anaconda and the ever-popular meerkats.

Leeds City Council executive member for leisure Councillor Adam Ogilvie said:

“Totally Tropical Christmas is a really great event which offers a fantastic night out for the whole family to enjoy and celebrate the festive spirit.

“Tropical World and Canal Gardens are transformed for the event and look magical, so we look forward to seeing lots of people enjoying themselves there again this year.”

Totally Tropical Christmas runs from 5-8pm every night from 19-21 December. No booking is necessary, admission is paid on arrival. Prices are £3.75 or £3 for any LEEDSCard or Breezecard holders, with free entry for under-fives. Last admission is at 7:30pm each night.
