Young people who attend youth centres across south Leeds are being invited to a Summer Sizzle at the brand new South Leeds Youth Hub in Belle Isle later this week.
Around 60 youngsters are expected to attend the ‘Summer Sizzle in Belle Izzle’ at the purpose-built youth hub on Thursday 18 August between 12 noon and 3pm, which has been organised by Leeds City Council’s youth services.
The young people will be able to have a go on the skate ramps, tuck in to a BBQ and have a go on the dance mats, as well as finding out about all the regular activities and groups available at the youth hub.
When: Thursday 18 August at 12 noon
Where: The South Leeds Youth Hub, Middleton Road, Belle Isle
What: Children and young people enjoying the activities at the ‘Summer Sizzle’.
Councillor Judith Blake, executive member responsible for children’s services, said:
“We want children and young people from all over south Leeds to discover what the hub has to offer. It has been slowly growing for the past few months and now more and more groups and organisations are taking advantage of its great facilities.
“This event will be a great opportunity for youngsters to meet up and have fun whilst trying out some of the activities the hub has to offer.”
The hub, which has been open to youth groups since February, is made up of seven zones and has been specially designed to boost opportunities for young people in the south of Leeds. A fully-fitted-out hair and beauty salon is available to help aspiring hairdressers and beauticians learn the tricks of the trade, and potentially run their own start-up business from there. Young people can also use the hub’s mechanics workshop to learn how to build and repair motorbikes and other small motor vehicles.
