Comment on Jean Dent being awarded an OBE in the New Year's Honours List

Leeds City Council executive member for development Councillor Richard Lewis said:

“We are delighted that Jean has been given this well-deserved award. Before her retirement earlier this year, Jean played a key role in helping to transform the landscape of Leeds into a modern 21st century city which is now recognised as one of the best places to live and work in the country. Jean enjoyed an exemplary 40-year career with Leeds City Council and this OBE is the perfect recognition of her talent and drive to succeed.”

Jean Dent biography summary:

Jean Dent recently retired from Leeds City Council after 40 years, the last 10 years of which were spent as director of development and then director of city development, responsible for the physical, economic and cultural development of the city. Her previous council roles had seen Jean working in many fields of property development, regeneration and economic development. She is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and is also a member of the RICS Regeneration Panel as well as being a governor at the Shadwell and Bramham Federation primary schools.
