Rothwell Leisure Centre boosted by makeover

Rothwell Leisure Centre in Leeds is set to boast a new look after being given a makeover both inside and out.

The Leeds City Council-managed centre off Wakefield Road in Oulton has seen a series of changes take place over the last six months which have included a new fitness room being created, the Bodyline gym being rearranged and new signage put in place.

The major external change will take place in the coming days, when a new main sign and three new large banners will be put in place outside the building. The work has been carried out in line with the continuous improvements being made to council-managed leisure centres all over the city which has included the openings of brand new centres at Armley and Morley earlier this summer.

The work at Rothwell has seen the former café area turned into a new fitness room where combat circuit sessions are now held. New improved internal signs have also been put in place, while the Bodyline gym has been rearranged to move the free weights closer to the cardiovascular equipment so they can more easily be used as part of a complete workout.

The Bodyline gym has also seen new flatscreen televisions installed, and improvements have also been made to the water filtration unit in the swimming pool while a more environmentally-friendly air recycling system has been in place at poolside and leading to the wetside changing areas.

Outside the giant banner which used to hang over the side of the building is to be repositioned, to make room for a main centre sign in the same style as on display at the newer council leisure centres. It will be joined by three eye-catching new large banners reflecting the activities available at the centre.

To celebrate the completion of these improvements, the centre will be running a special ‘bring a friend for free’ promotion throughout September. Any current Bodyline member can take a friend who has not used the centre before with them to an unlimited number of gym sessions for free following an initial induction at any times during the month.

Leeds City Council executive member for leisure Councillor Adam Ogilvie
said:

“We are really pleased that these improvements at Rothwell Leisure Centre are due to be completed shortly and we hope customers will appreciate the changes and take advantage of the special offer in September and bring a friend.

“We are committed to improving all our leisure centre facilities across the city and are determined to keep raising the standards so that we can offer the very best services and facilities we can to people of all ages in Leeds.”
