Here are the first images from inside the new Armley Leisure Centre which is due to open in May. The new centre is one of two being built in a £33m project overseen by Leeds City Council through the Local Education Partnership with support from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. The second site, at Morley, is due to open in early-Summer.
The images show the external of the building looking towards the entrance, the two-court sports hall and two shots from the main swimming pool.
Following a tour of the new centre at Armley, Leeds City Council executive member for Leisure Cllr John Procter said:
“We are delighted with how both of our fantastic new leisure centres at Armley and Morley are coming along. Both projects are running perfectly on schedule and you can already see what wonderful facilities they are going to be. We cannot wait to see them finished and opened for people of all ages to come and make use of.”
The Local Education Partnership works to assist in the delivery of education and leisure projects in Leeds. It is made up of Leeds City Council, the national Building Schools for the Future investment programme and private sector companies Interserve, Barclays Private Equity and Cambridge Education.
