It is with great sadness that we can confirm that Councillor Kabeer Hussain died suddenly on Tuesday 29 December.
Councillor Hussain was a Liberal Democrat councillor for the Hyde Park and Woodhouse ward and had been a councillor since June 2004.
Councillor Richard Brett, joint council leader and leader of the Liberal Democrat Group, said:
“I am stunned and hugely saddened to hear of Councillor Hussain’s death and extremely sorry to lose such a good councillor.
He was a hard working councillor who found time to combine being a councillor and help hundreds of people, while having a full-time job.
This is an extremely sad time. My thoughts, wishes and deepest sympathy are with his family and friends.”
Councillor Hussain was in his early 30s and leaves a wife and three children.
A date for a by-election has not yet been fixed.
