The finale to a great summer looms for south Leeds

The I Love South Leeds Festival is set to come to a close next weekend with a finale of music, dance and performance.

The free finale, taking place on Saturday 5th September at the Athletics Centre at John Charles Centre for Sport, will have performances from the winners of the Junior Superstar competition.

It will also include a dance spectacular from DAZL and music being provided from young people who have taken part in the South Leeds Community Radio managed Turn It Up! Programme.

The event will be taking place between 12pm and 2pm, promising to be fun for all the family. Food and refreshments will be provided along with I Love South Leeds Festival goodies to take away as a memento of this year’s festival.

The Inner South Area Committee funded festival has attracted young people from across the communities of Beeston, Holbeck, Cottingley, Hunslet, Belle Isle and Middleton to get involved in the jam packed programme of activities, ranging from dodgeball to drumming, choir singing to cheerleading, which have taken place over the last few months.

Councillor Angela Gabriel, chair of Leeds City Council’s Inner South Area Committee, said:
“It’s been a fantastic summer of events for young people in south Leeds and this finale will really round off a great success.
“We’re hoping local people turn out and really enjoy the event, which has been such an encouraging sign of the good work being done in the area.”
