BBC Blast meets Breeze on Tour

Creative young people need to head to Kirkstall Abbey this week for the last Breeze on Tour of the summer.

For one week only the BBC Blast Tour will build an impressive mobile creative village complete with digital workshop spaces and a separate performance area. BBC Blast is a unique scheme that encourages and supports teenagers who want to start a career in creative industries, such as music, dance, fashion, film, art or design.

Teenagers can use state-of-the-art equipment to produce their own work with advice and support from industry professionals, including BBC production staff at the Breeze on tour event at Kirkstall Abbey on Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 August.

Some of the exciting workshops that will be on offer include: street dance, t-shirt design, film making, DJ-ing, MC-ing, music production, circus skills, photography, Bollywood dancing, animation, Radio, plus ”How I got into TV weather presenting” with BBC Look North's Keeley Donovan. Workshops will be available from 11am to 5pm and those interested in taking part should go the Blast website - or email for more info and to book their place.

Children and young people aged 8 to 18 can just turn up with their Breezecard and can get in for free at every location on every day. There's a whole load of different activities including dancing, arts and crafts, music, football, giant inflatables, DJing, movie making, performances from international and local artists and bands, competitions …and so much more. If people can’t make it to Breeze on Tour they could try one of the mini Breeze events – it’s just like Breeze on Tour only a little bit smaller!

Wed 19th August - Thu 20th August Kirkstall Abbey
