Education Leeds welcomes new non-executive board member

Education Leeds has appointed Gary Lumby MBE as a non-executive member of its board.

Mr Lumby is head of retail banking at Yorkshire Bank and received his MBE in 2008 in recognition of his services to the finance industry. Within Leeds Mr Lumby is also president of the Leeds Chamber of Commerce and chair of the Leeds College Strategic Board.

Professor Stephen Parkinson, chair of the Education Leeds board, said:
“We are delighted to have once again attracted a member of such experience, high calibre and reputation to the board.

“Gary Lumby adds to an already extremely experienced team which will continue to support the excellent work carried out by Education Leeds and help to meet and overcome the challenges which lie ahead.

“We are committed to supporting Education Leeds and our wonderful schools to help raise standards and give our children and young people the best possible start in life.”

Gary Lumby, the newly appointed non-executive member of the Education Leeds board, said:
“I am excited and honoured to be a member of the Education Leeds board and look forward to contributing towards the rise in educational standards that we have witnessed in Leeds in recent years.

“I want to ensure that even stronger links are built with employers across the city so our young people are equipped with the skills that employers require.

“It is vital that all education provision is connected and that all levels work together to deliver the high class and seamless pathway to learning that we all want.”
